Our Story
When Shivani Baghel set out to write a self-help book for other women of colour— women from developing lands with natural abundance & rich cultures, women who carry a collective history of colonization and resilience, women who are fragmented by nations but bonded by intergenerational truths— she thought it would be a straight-forward task.
After all, she had emigrated from middle-class India to urban France and had done all the perfect immigrant things— like building a rock solid career, mastering a new language, adopting another culture and creating a spectacular life of abundance.
The only problem?
She knew there was more to her place in the world. Much more. So she enlisted her childhood friend Sadhvi Konchada to help her unpack everything the world had told her to be.
Sadhvi Konchada a San Francisco based illustrator and a successful first generation immigrant herself could instantly identify with the narrative.
Together, they investigated their personal stories and used that as a springboard into our collective histories under colonisation. By inviting us to do the same in Rising Lotuses, Shivani and Sadhvi offer unexpected magic and vulnerable wisdom that will make you feel held, witnessed, and transformed.
